New Fiesta

The New (again) Ford Fiesta - Ok that is meant to be tongue in cheek, but I think you know what I'm getting at.

This is a car that has been around longer than God, but since it has also been reinvented or face lifted every 5 minutes, it looks younger than Katie Price's (AKA Jordan) botox filled forehead.

But, this all new Fiesta has a huge plus over all of the previous models though....it looks fantastic!

Whoever designed this car should be rewarded because they have got it so right this time, which I think makes this car even more appealing than previous models. This is something that they needed to do with so much competition in this market place! It has to fight for sales with the likes of the Grande Punto, Suzuki Swift, Fiat 500, Mini One and my current personal favourite the Alfa Mito, which I think is easily the most stylish small hatch on the market.

The car that I test drove was a 1.25 Style + 82 ps in vision blue which wouldn't be my colour choice but each to their own. Colour aside, as a drive it is a very capable car. The seats were very comfortable on my derriere and caused me no back ache after a good 2 hour test drive although one complaint would be that the rear leg room isn't exactly the best in class.

The road noise is low at normal speeds and not too intrusive at motorway speeds, but the most important thing that Ford had to get right was that it had to be fun to drive... which they did! It's no hot hatch (yet) but the steering is very responsive with great feeling through the wheel if you feel the need to push it through the bends on an empty country road. It is just as nimble through town and is very easy to park, even though the rear visibility leaves a lot to be desired (I'd go with some parking sensors just in case!).

It is easy to see why this car has been voted car of the year by a lot of the motoring press as it is truly a cracking car, but my vote is still for the Alfa Mito as I feel that it is just that little bit more fun, a tad more stylish and it has the badge to go with it but you could really do a lot worse than go for the new Fiesta.

Thanks for Reading

Stuart McKay

P.S: At the time of writing this review the Fiesta Mk7 was the current model but it since it was written over 5 minutes ago Ford may have introduced a facelift.....:-p
